Calamity Jane, General Crook's scout four seasons On view is the rightCalamity Jane, General Crook's scout, c1870 1876 (1954). Martha Jane Cannary Burke, better known by her nickname of Calamity Jane, was a frontierswoman who served as a scout with the US Cavalry on the Indian frontier in the 1870s. She was a friend of Wild Bill Hickock, and later in life appeared as a trick shooter and horse rider with Colonel William F 'Buffalo Bill' Cody's travelling Wild West show.
