See photos -- there are a couple of whitish/grayish areas to the glaze on the interior of the bowl as well as what seems to be a very tiny shard of stoneware stuck to the  surface

Really a striking and unusual piece

while the box is very worn and taped together a bit on the sides

I believe these date to the mid-to-late 19th century

I believe this originally came with a matching spoon/ladle

The bowl is not especially deep, so better I think for serving stew than soup, and then handily hanging up. It's certainly fairly old and has seen a lot of use; the wood of the bowl's interior is a bit rough, but the back and handle is mostly worn very smooth from many years of use, with just a little cracking to the surface of
