sometime between the 20s and early 50s

This hand thrown small plate/dish was created by Mary and Edwin Scheier

the dovetail box is missing the edge trim on one end of its sliding top

I love its rounded form and gold edging at each level of the stack, plus the cool abstract design on the lid (I think it is abstract, though perhaps it is text?). I'd guess this box dates to the mid 20th century or so, and is in good vintage condition,
