It was introduced to the USAF in May 1958 as a fighter bomber with a massive payload so Thunderchief was tasked with most of the strike missions during the Vietnam War, but suffered considerable losses. It was capable of Mach 2 at high altitude despite being the largest single seat aircraft produced in the U. S. The Thunderchief was eventually
