The Sea King entered service in 1969 and has worked hard both for the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy in many roles including anti-submarine
West German Luftwaffe and Portuguese Air Force operated the aircraft right up to 1995
The RAF and FAA purchased the F4J and redesigned it with the Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan
Due to engine and manufacturing problems the aircraft was replaced by the Hawker Typhoon in 1943
