Vintage Hickory Ski Poles by Astar windowdisplay Sole and boot length 11Antique Hickory Ski Poles by Astar c. 1920s 30s, 20th Century Wood, leather, metal 47" tall, 6" basket diameter Vintage Winter Hickory downhill ski poles. Leather cap and strap style grip, and leather and rattan basket (6") in excellent condition. Single poles were used until about 1910 and made of a hardwood (hickory, willow, oak, etc.) to be sturdy and strong push sticks. In the 1920s, bamboo shafts became popular because they were lighter weight
