A circular medal constructed of iron, the obverse centre bears seven lances tied together with an oak leaf wreath and ribbons, circumscribed with Einigkeit macht stark Vaterlandsliebe unberwindlich (Together we are stronger Patriotism insurmountable), the reverse bears the inscription Den Freiwilligen Vaterland Verteidigern des Fnften deutschen Armeekorps Vouihrem Kommandirenden
