1937 Jaguar SS100 mb-code 1239695 He is pictured in his1937 Jaguar SS100. Under the leadership of founder William Lyons, Jaguar established its reputation of building sports cars in the mid 1930s. Its SS90 came out in 1935 with a 2. 6 litre engine which was capable of 90 mph. It was soon replaced by the 125 hp 3. 5 litre SS100, a true 100 mph sports car, which was designed by Lyons himself.
