Instituted 2 April 1939. (1939 1945 issue). Constructed of a bronzed alloy, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte with its arms joined together through the quadrants by stylized sun rays, the obverse bearing a central circular wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central
