Baden, Grand Duchy. A Silver Merit Medal Newly Listed 45 mm (w) x 69(Silberne Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 30 September 1866 by Grand Duke Friedrich I. (1868 1881 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich I, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central inscription of FR VERDIENST (FOR SERVICE), within a circular oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 40. 58 mm in diameter,
