The later versions were equipped with a larger 1400 (hp) Jumo 211 J (or P) engine and produced in numbers exceeding 1,500. The Ju87 Gustav entered development as an anti tank aircraft and was equipped with a pair of 37mm cannons. The legendary tank Ace Oberst (Colonel) Hans Ulrich Rudel flew this aircraft.
