Constructed of silvered brass with multi coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom with a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central black and white enameled square set within a red enameled border, superimposed on a ribbed background, the reverse with a barrel hine and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with two visible clips
