Constructed of stamped magnetic sheet metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a pair of crossed swords overlaying a plane and situated above a date of 1942, topped by an inscription of DEMJANSK and dual log pillboxes flanking a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with field grey wool liner (indicating Heer issue)
