'Head of Otegoowgoow, Son of a New Zealand Chief...' Joseph as two fishermen returning fromLieutenant James Cook's party encountered Otegoowgoow in late November 1769, in New Zealand's Bay of Islands. He was wounded in the thigh by a gun fired from Endeavour.
