Joyce (1882 1941) is best known for his collection of short stories Dubliners (1914) and the novels Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Ulysses (1922) and Finnegan's Wake (1939). Although Joyce lived most of his life as an expatriate, his work is largely centred on Dublin life and he is regarded as one of the icons of Irish culture.
