Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte, the obverse with red enameled arms, with a central red enameled medallion bearing a silvered coat of arms of Hamburg, the reverse with an inscription of FR VERDIENSTE IM KRIEGE 1914, unmarked, measuring 40. 16 mm (w) x 43. 99 mm (h), weighing 18. 6 grams, in better than very fine condition.
