A round, silver plated bronze medal, the obverse depicting Karl I, circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse inscribed DER TAPFERKEIT (FOR BRAVERY) within a laurel wreath tied together at the base, maker marked KAUTSCH on obverse, measuring 31. 11 mm in diameter, weighing 13. 9 grams, on loop for suspension from its period original war time ribbon, with three repetition clasps
