and had to completely re-record a new set of songs for the album after producer Chris Parry rejected the first batch as being sub-standard

the album featured a return to a somewhat more hard punk rock style compared to the band's previous two albums End of the Century in 1980

ending with a nod not to the past but the future (and Barack Obama)
