Constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates 1941 1942, secured with all four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool reverse liner indicating Heer issue, the shield measuring 51. 76 mm (w) x 61. 32 mm (h), the reverse paper liner is
