In silver, naming is engraved in italicized capitals, measuring 36. 2 mm in diameter, contact marks and surface wear, bruised, original ribbon with safety pin attachment, very fine. Footnote: The Afghanistan Medal, sanctioned on March 19, 1881 and was awarded to members of the British and Indian armies who served in Afghanistan between 1878 and 1880 during the Second Afghan War, the first war being from 1839
