The fez is surrounded by a fold-down panel that is adorned with a band of woven black machine-embroidered ribbon

In bronze gilt, the obverse presents the left facing profile of King Carol I with the surrounding inscription CAROLUS I REX ROMANIAE, the reverse presents a central inscription BENE MERENTI surrounded by a raised laurel wreath, measures 30. 5mm (w) x 35. 70mm (h inclusive of integral ring), worn on original ribbon with a rare bronze gilt crown clasp denoting a personal employee of King
