He joined the CEF on 18th October 1915 having seen previous service with the 82nd Regiment
He signed his Attestation Paper as a Captain
and almost entirely destroyed when the city fell in February 1945
He joined the Reichswehr in 1935

A pair of Der Stahlhelm badges, including a membership badge, constructed of silvered bronze, horizontal pinback, the edge maker marked N. & H., measuring 28 mm (w) x 17 mm (h), in very fine condition, and; a Nationalsozialistischer Deutscher Frontkmpferbund Der Stahlhelm (NSDFBSt) membership badge, constructed of silvered bronze, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 20 mm in diameter, in very fine condition.
