I would think it has 100 years on it at least and has surely stopped a lot of doors
carrying loads one way and "emties" the other
But it is the expression on the face of the man at the center upon which I think the painting hinges-- elusive
or to either side --and also making one think a bit of those huge inflatable flapping figures placed outside car dealerships and the like
my very favorite I've found
