It is a large antique bait bucket minnow pail in original green (beautifully worn and aged) paint, French I believe, early 1900s. With a very lyrical, perfectly working wire clasp mechanism locking the lid, as detailed that loop of wire raises as a handle for locking unlocking it, then lies flat once closed.
